REVIEWS & TESTIMONIALS

INVASION

On Monday night I saw “Andi’s Night” at the Fourth Street Theater in the East Village, one of three short play programs, this curated by producer Andi Cohen. In my favorite play  of the evening, INVASION, written by Lisa Bruna, a high-powered executive gets trapped in an elevator with her far more free-spirited neighbor.

SHAMING AVA

The final play, Lisa Bruna’s SHAMING AVA, is entertaining throughout. Bringing soup to a homeless girl -- what’s horrible about that? We get some answers in the course of the play... and the use of "boo" and "applause" signs involves the audience in an engaging fashion. Acting is top-notch, with the nearly silent Mr. Nance coming close to stealing the show with his perfectly in-character reactions, and the show ends on a sweet, poignant note.

FOG

Gentle and caring piece. Nice to read something where the playwright honors all characters.

Bruna Plays

Lisa Bruna has mastered her craft! Her characters demand you become emotionally connected. The dialogue and situations are real. Comedy or drama, performing in one of her plays is a sheer delight.

INVASION

Another memorable entry, INVASION by Lisa Bruna traps two neighbors in their apartment building’s elevator: think Anna Wintour forced to share a confined space with Zach Galifianakis. Of course, they break down these stereotypes as their conversation unfolds and as they break down the barriers between one another, but it is a final takeaway, organic yet still unexpected, that gives this play extra weight.

HEAVY LIFTING

It was a relief to get to this play while reading. It's funny and well-resolved. I like the well-defined characters and the story. It was an entertaining piece. I smiled a lot!

Bruna Plays

If you are an actor for live theatre, perform in one of Lisa Bruna's plays. The personalities of Lisa's characters transport the audience into a myriad of emotional highs and lows. The thrill you will get as an actor is unsurpassed.

INVASION

Evoking the most emotions is Lisa Bruna’s INVASION. When two neighbors who never acknowledge each other are suddenly trapped in an elevator together, they each learn that the other knows far more about them than at least one of them would prefer.
